KEMER

Kemer is the most important touristic center of Turkey in the foot of west Toros mountains near 43 km to Antalya and 52 km along the beach.There was a village with tiny muddy tiny lakes and swamps called "Old Village" created by the torrent from mountains in 1910's. A 23km of stony walls like had been built up a belt to prevent that torrent by the people of Old Village.After times, they called to their village 'Kemer' that means 'Belt' in Turkish.

There was no highway to Kemer in 1960's so all the arrivals was providing by ships, but today Kemer is turned one of most popular touristic centers int Turkey with the implementation of 'Tourism Project of South Antalya', Kemer has growned up fast with highways and other infrastructures. By the way, Kiris, Tekirova, Çayova, Aslanbucak, Kuzdere, Beycik, Çamyuva, Göynük, Beldibi, Çirali settlements takes highly important places for Antalya's tourism as Kemer.

This resort town has been carefully designed to blend in with the surrounding scenery and offers an ideal enviroment for a wonderful holiday. The fully-equipped Kemer marina allows yachtsmen to enjoy the unspoiled bays and beaches south of the town. Shoppers will delight in the wonderful range of high quality souvenirs for sale. A beach promenade north of the marina has steps down from its cafes and shops leading directly to the beach. Kemer Beach is a Blue Flag beach. (The term "Blue Flag" coined by the European Union sinifies especially clean beaches). In the Yörük (Nomad) Theme Park you can watch traditional crafts people at work. The adjoining bay is charming and delightful spot with many sports and daily entertainment facilities discreetly hidden among the pines.

Kemer, built in 1910, is about 43 kms. from Antalya. It is a very attractive village at the outskirts of the Taurus Mountains. Kemer has nine villages. The population of Kemer is around 9740 and it has a coast of 52 kms. In Kemer the sea, the forest and the mountains blend with each other.
